CVS Summer Clearance - L'Oreal Colour Riche Anti-Aging Serum Lipstick in Naturally Nude

I picked up the L'Oreal Colour Riche Anti-Aging Serum lipstick in Naturally Nude during the CVS Summer Beauty Clearance.  It was $2.75 (regularly $10.99) at 75% off! The clearance is still going on, but things have been picked over a lot!

First impression- I like that you can see the color of the lipstick through the top.  Hopefully that means fewer people have opened it before I bought it.
According to L'Oreal's website, the center of the lipstick has a special Anti-Aging Serum containing ProXalyne, Collagen and other powerful ingredients.  The Anti-Aging Serum "instantly improves definition, fills surface lines, and creates fuller looking lips."  I did not buy this lipstick for the anti-aging properties, because I don't believe that an $11 lipstick can really do all of that... especially instantly.

I do find it to be a very moisturizing lipstick.  It doesn't feel as drying as most lipsticks tend to be.

One thing that I don't love about this lipstick (and most L'Oreal lipsticks for that matter) is that is has a strong "lipstick" smell.

The color is a beautiful pinky nude.  Definitely more pink that I expected in a nude, but I think it works well with my skintone.

Bottom line:  Definitely worth checking out if you find it on clearance.  This is a discontinued item, but I think it is worth picking up if you find a deal on it like I did!

L'Oreal True Match powder and blush - Target Clearance

Remember my post about the L'Oreal True Match powder and blush set on clearance at Target?  I just saw it marked down to $4.48, which is 50% off!

Target still has a coupon for $1 off any L'Oreal cosmetics item on their website.  With the coupon, you could get this set for $3.48!

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick - Limited Edition Porcelain Collection in Nude Nuances

After I saw all of the great things the beauty gurus on YouTube were saying about the new Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick Porcelain Collection, I had to pick up Nude Nuances.  Everyone was saying that it is a great dupe for MAC's Hue.  Since I don't own any MAC lipsticks and everyone seemed to love Hue, I decided to grab Nude Nuances at Walgreens.  It seemed to be the safest color in the collection.  All but one of others seemed WAY too pink for me.

My entire lipstick collection is made up of nudes, so this would be like all of the rest, right?  WRONG!

First, I do like the packaging.  The purpleish cap feels rubberized.  Overall, it is very cute.

The formula is smooth just like the regular Color Sensational lipstick line.  I really like the Maybelline lipsticks that I own.  In my opinion, Nude Nuances smells a little bit more like lipstick than the regular Color Sensational line.  Maybe more of a plastic smell?
Unfortunately, this lipstick looks like concealer on my lips.  With my pale complexion, Nude Nuances makes me look positively ill.  I think you have to have a darker complexion to be able to pull off this lipstick.  I just can't pull it off at all.

That being said, I have layered this lipstick with another lipstick that was too dark brown for me.  This lipstick tones down the brown to a much more wearable nude.  I don't entirely regret buying this, because now I can wear the other lipstick that wasn't getting any use.  However, I have enough colors in my lipstick collection that I DO enjoy wearing alone that completely compliment my skintone... so maybe I still regret the color.  I'll just stick with the regular Color Sensational lipstick line.

Big Lots Find - Revlon ColorStay Soft & Smooth Lipcolor in Smooth Nude

I have found some great beauty products at Big Lots.  Recently I purchased the Revlon ColorStay Soft & Smooth Lipcolor in 350 Smooth Nude.  At $2, I figured it wouldn't hurt to add another nude lipstick to my collection.  As it turns out, I should have passed and saved the $2.

I was originally interested in this lipstick because it comes in a tube that is very similar to the Revlon PhotoReady concealer.  The concealer is smooth and creamy, so I figured the lipstick would be the same.
The lipstick is very smooth and creamy. It glides on easily and doesn't feel heavy on the lips. I think it feels more like a lip balm in texture than a lipstick.  In fact, the smoothness reminds me of the PhotoReady concealer.  It doesn't feel drying on your lips.  It smells like vanilla, and I LOVE that.

For some reason, I feel like it is too smooth, so it doesn't apply the color evenly.  If I put a lip balm on first, it is even more difficult to apply the color evenly.  It's almost like it doesn't "stick" to your lips over the gloss.
As I mentioned, I chose the color Smooth Nude.  If you read my post on the Maybelline Porcelain Collection in Nude Nuances, you know I'm a sucker for nude lipsticks.
Unfortunately, this is another nude that just does not work for me.  It looks like a concealer on my lips, so I look sickly with it on.  I would say it has too much orange in it for my fair complexion.  I prefer a nude with a bit more pink or brown.

I can layer other lipsticks on it, but who wants to take the time to layer when you have a color that looks great by itself.

Bottom line:  My biggest problem with this lipstick is the color.  I LOVE the vanilla scent, and it is quite moisturizing for a lipstick. These lipsticks have been discontinued, but if you find them at Big Lots, I say pass.  You can find much better products, newer products from Revlon, so save yourself the $2.

Target July 2012 Summer Make-Up Clearance - L'Oreal True Match Powder and Blush

On one of my recent stops to Target, I was browsing through the beauty aisle and looking for a great deal on some clearance beauty products. For some reason, I rarely find anything worth buying when Target has beauty products on sale. The colors are never something I would buy or I have already read enough bad reviews about the product that I know better than to waste any money on the product, even if it is 70% off.

I came across the L'Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Powder that had a free blush packaged with it. They were only 30% off, but I wanted to get a powder to set my new BB cream and the reviews look promising for the L'Oreal powder.   The powder I picked is in the shade Soft Ivory n1.  That's the first thing I like about these powders.  You can choose your undertone.  My foundation has neutral undertones, so I went with the neutral for this powder.  I'm going to test the powder this weekend.  So far, I have used it in the evening to get rid of the shine on my face, but I haven't tested it for more than an hour or two.

The L'Oreal Tue Match Super-Blendable Blush that is paired with each powder is aimed at the same skintone. The blush I got with my "fairest of them all" powder was in Precious Peach n1-2.

Here is the powder compact outside of the packaging.  Just a basic, plastic compact.

You will notice that these are two compartments.  The top lifts up and the bottom lifts down to store the applicator.  This design is the same on the powder and blush.

The line in the plastic is not a crack.  It's just the way it looks!
You can open the top to access the product.  The powder comes with a sponge applicator.

There is a mirror below the sponge.

As I mentioned, the matching blush in the set is in the shade Precious Peach n1-2.

The packing in the same as the powder.  You open the top to access the blush.

The bottom opens to reveal a brush.  The blush compact does not have a mirror like the powder compact.

Does anyone EVER use the brush that comes with a product?  I'm sure I did in high school, but in college, I started to buy a few make-up brushes, so I never used these worthless brushes again.  In fact, I typically throw them in a drawer and don't keep them with the product, although now I'm wondering why I don't throw them away...

On to the moment you have been waiting for... the swatch.

Yeah, I can't see much either.  The color is a soft, light peach, and it's definitely got some shimmer!  The powder is very smooth, and it doesn't have any fall-out when I swatch it like some products do.  Probably not my favorite blush that I own, but I'm sure it will provide a natural flush on days when I don't want to look like I have much on my face.  Plus, I view the blush as a bonus, as I was really buying the powder.

How can you make this a better deal? Target's website has a printable coupon for $1 off a L'Oreal cosmetics item.

Definitely worth checking to see if your Target still had these combo packs on clearance! They were on the top shelf above the rest of the L'Oreal products!
