Maybelline Color Sensation Lipstick Collection - Browns

Yesterday, I talked about my new Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Strike A Rose.  Today, I wanted to compare it to the two other brown cap Maybelline lipsticks that I own.
The three colors that I have purchased are 205 Nearly There, 215 Totally Toffee, and Limited Edition 820 Strike A Rose.
My only complaint about Nearly There is that it has a gritty texture on my lips from the glitter or shimmer in the lipstick.  Totally Toffee has a very smooth texture.  Strike A Rose is probably in between Nearly There and Totally Toffee, as far as texture goes.
Maybelline Nearly There, Totally Toffee, Strike A Rose
Nearly there is a more sheer, pinky nude.  Totally Toffee has more brown.  Toffee is an appropriate description.  Strike A Rose is more of a berry color.
Maybelline Nearly There, Totally Toffee, Strike A Rose
I realized that I have two colors in my collection from other brands that are similar to Nearly There and Strike A Rose.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Gilded Pink is very similar to Maybelline's Nearly There.  L'Oreal's lipstick also has the same gritty texture.

I think Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Blushed is similar to Maybelline's Strike A Rose, but it's not quite as berry in color.  Blushed is almost a combination of Totally Toffee and Strike A Rose.

Maybelline Limited Edition Fashion Week Collection Lipstick in Strike A Rose

I finally decided to pick up one of the lipsticks from the Maybelline 2012 Fashion Week Collection.  I thought Strike A Rose was the safest option for me.  I didn't want a repeat of the Maybelline Porcelain Collection.  I like to buy lipsticks that I will wear a lot... something that looks good on me that doesn't require much effort to "work" with my coloring.

I found this in a special display on the cosmetics counter at Walgreens.  They also had it at CVS, but this shade was sold out.
I like Maybelline lipsticks, but I only had two until recently.  The formula is nice and smooth.  I think the Revlon lipsticks have a slightly thicker or heavier feel.  Maybelline lipsticks glide easily onto your lips.  There is no pull or tug when you apply them.  I think they are lighter and creamier than most drugstore lipsticks.
I was not disappointed at all with Strike A Rose.  It is a beautiful color, with a bit of berry in it.  Although it is in the brown packaging, I don't think it has too much brown to it.  Maybe a bit of a berry-nude color.
I think this is a beautiful color for the fall and winter.  It actually looks a lot like another color that I have in my collection, which will show you tomorrow.
Overall, I'm very happy that I decided to try Strike a Rose.  It is the perfect berry for my skintone, and I am loving this lipstick!

Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lip Gloss

I picked up one of the new Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lip Glosses in Luminous Latte.  I chose a neutral color.  Some of the lip glosses looked like they had a lot of glitter, and this one doesn't have any glitter.  I like that this line has that option.

I found it in a special display at CVS.  It was hidden in a special display above the locked frangrances.
I am a fan of the packaging.  It doesn't have writing all over it.  It really looks nice and classic.

An added bonus:  The lipgloss smells like candy!
The applicator is sponge-tipped and slightly tappered.
This gloss has quite a bit of color, and it's pretty opaque!  I typically don't wear a gloss by itself, but this lip gloss has enough pigment to give a glossy, nude lip appearance.  I don't find it to be sticky at all, but it feels heavier than most of my lip glosses.
I would be interested to see if the brighter colors are as pigmented as this nude, but I'm very happy with this color.

Little Black Bag

I have not been very good about posting reviews this week, because I have a new obsession.  I finally decided to try Little Black Bag.  This is a newer subscription service with purses, accessories, jewelry, home items, make-up... lot of options!  Little Black Bag lets you choose your first item, and stylists pick a few more items for you.  For 7 days, you can trade whatever is in your bag for items that other members have in their bags.  You can ship your bag immediately as soon as you are satisfied, but I recommend that you trade the entire 7 days to get the most out of your bag.

At first I thought I would never be able to trade for something I really liked, but just because I don't like something doesn't mean someone else doesn't.

I initially signed up for Little Black Bag, because I wanted this Big Buddha purse.  It was $90 on Macy's website, but on Little Black Bag, the subscription is $50 + $5 shipping.  When you Like their Facebook page, you get a code for 10% off your first purchase.  Therefore, I am getting this bag and my other items for $50.
Quilted Tote
The other items that were put in my bag included a pair of earrings that I didn't like and a necklace that I kind of liked.  I also had a free eyeliner from Mineralogie.  I offered to trade the earrings in exchange for a bracelet that I liked, and someone accepted my trade.  I found a Steve Madden clutch that I liked even more, so I decided to trade my earrings, new bracelet and eyeliner for the clutch.  The clutch was valued at $58 and the earrings and bracelet had a combined value of $58.  Someone accepted that trade!

I was ready to ship my bag, but I still had several days of trading left.  I decided to wait.  Then someone offered me the same black Big Buddha purse (a $90 value) for the $58 Steve Madden clutch.  I had to accept.

Since then I have been trading purses.  Currently, I have both the black and red versions of this Big Buddha purse in my bag.  I am trying to trade the red purse for another bag, but if no one accepts, I will be more than happy with both purses.

This has been such a fun shopping experience.  It's slightly stressful at times when you are waiting for a trade to be accepted, but it is really fun to offer trades and see what people will accept and to see what is offered to you.

I don't know how often they switch up the items or add new items to the site.  It looks like a few items are added each weekday, but I don't know that for sure.  I'm not sure that I will order regularly, but it would make a really great holiday gift for someone who likes to shop!

Urban Decay will be back on HauteLook tomorrow, October 18!

Urban Decay will be back on HauteLook tomorrow, October 18 at 8 AM Pacific.

HERE is my post from the last time that Urban Decay was on HauteLook.  It went through the Pros and Cons of ordering on HauteLook instead of Urban Decay's website.  However, the items that will be offered on HauteLook tomorrow may be entirely different than what I mentioned in that post, so some of the information may not apply this time around.

40% off ALL Make-Up on drugstore.com through October 20

Today I received an e-mail from drugstore.com that their entire make-up department is 40% when you use coupon code MAKEUP40.  The coupon can be used once per account and does not combine with some offers.  This offer ends 10/20/12.

Every order over $25 ships free, so it's a really great deal!

I have placed multiple orders from drugstore.com and their sister site, BEAUTY.com, and I have been really happy with the company.  They have excellent customer service, and my orders have always arrived quickly and well-packaged.

Now I need to get back to shopping...

Sephora and Ulta 20% Off Sales Coming Soon!

It's time to pull out your high-end product wish list!

I just received a mailer from Ulta with a 20% off coupon for in-store purchases that is valid from Saturday, October 20th through Saturday, October 27th.  It can be used on all regular price and sale merchandise except frangrance, Lancome, Clinique, Dermalogica, Benefit Brow Bar Services and clearance merchandise.

The Sephora 20% Friends and Family sale is rummored to be running from October 18 until October 31.  It is valid on in-store and online purchases.  I don't think there are any exclusions on this F&F sale.  I suggest that you check out the Sephora Favorites "In The Glow" Set or the Tarte Fantastic Foursome 4-Piece Blush Enthusiast Set.  I love them both!

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil in Milk Chocolate

Ooops, I splurged.  I have wanted the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer for a long time.  I have heard that it is an amazing matte bronzer and it makes a great contour, because it doesn't look muddy.  Plus it smells like chocolate!  When I received a Sephora gift card, I decided to finally give this popular bronzer a try.
I chose Milk Chocolate, because I figured the original Chocolate Soleil would be too dark for my fair skin.
Here's a picture of the back of the box.
The packaging is really nice.  It matches the high end price of $29!
Now I understand what all of the hype was about.  It really is a beautiful bronzer.  I never used an all over bronzer on my face, but this gives my skin just a touch of color.  I feel like it makes me look more healthy, since I always look so pale during the winter.

I LOVE to apply it all over my face, especially because it smells like hot chocolate.  It's very pleasant, and it makes me look forward to using this product every morning.
The full size Too Face Chocolate Soleil has .35 oz of product, but a little bit goes a long way. It doesn't take much to give my entire face a touch of color.
Here is a comparison of the original Chocolate Soleil from the Sephora "In The Glow" set and Milk Chocolate.
In the pan, they don't look too terribly different, but you can see in the swatch, Milk Chocolate is significantly lighter than the original Chocolate Soleil.
I'm sold.  I looooooove this bronzer.  As an all-over bronzer, it gives me just a bit more color, and I love it.  I also love to put it on in the morning, because the smell is AMAZING.  Even though I hate the price, I will probably repurchase this if I even run out.

Milani Baked Powder Blush

If you read my post on the Milani Illuminating Face Powder, you knew it was only a matter of time before I shared swatches of the two blushes that I received.

Today I'm going to show you the Milani Baked Powder Blush in Corallina and Dolce Pink.  The packaging photographs dark, but it's actually a bright, shiny gold.  The only downside is that the packaging is very large, so it takes up a lot of space.
Milani Baked Blush in Corallina, Dolce Pink
Here is the bottom of the blush.
The colors are gorgeous.  I don't wear too many coral or pink blushes, so I will have to play with these, but I love Milani blush.  It does have glitter in it, so if you prefer a matte blush, you won't be a fan.  I don't find the glitter to be messy, and I think it gives a gorgeous glow.  I mainly use my Milani blush when I'm in a hurry and don't have time to use a separate blush and highlighter.  These Baked Blushes take care of everything in one step.
Milani Baked Blush in Corallina, Dolce Pink
Here is a closer up picture, so you can see just how beautiful the blush is!  The blush lifts up to reveal a mirror and blush brush, although I have never used either.
Milani Baked Blush in Corallina, Dolce Pink
You can barely see the glitter in these swatches, but the colors are beautiful.  They blend out really easily.  I think both are very wearable shades.
Milani Baked Blush in Corallina, Dolce Pink
These are very easy to apply, and they are very pigmented.
Milani Baked Blush in Corallina, Dolce Pink
Overall, I love Milani's Baked Blush.  I was really excited to win this set from Milani's giveaway, because even though I already had three Milani Baked Blush, I didn't have either of these shades.  I have been really happy with the quality of these products, so I think they are definitely worth looking into!

Milani Illuminating Face Powder

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to win a giveaway on Milani's Facebook page.  The prizes that I won were part of the "Girlish Flush" trend.  It included the Illuminating Face Powder in 01 Amber Nectar and 03 Beauty's Touch and the Baked Blush in 01 Dolce Pink and 08 Corallina.

Today I'm going to show you the Milani Illuminating Face Powder in 01 Amber Nectar and 03 Beauty's Touch.  Let me start by saying how much I love the Milani face products that I have.  I already own two of the Baked Bronzers and three Baked Blushes, so I was excited to try these Illuminating Face Powders.
The packaging says that they are an "Ultra-Smooth Highlighter, Bronzer & Blush."  They are too pigmented to be a highlighter on my fair skin, but I don't need a highlighter when I use them.
These are really gorgeous products.  Each powder is made up of different colors in the shape of roses.  When swirled together, they make a beautiful, illuminating powder.  I prefer the packaging of these over the baked blush.  I like the clear, solid lids.
Amber Nectar, Beauty's Touch

Here are the swatches.  I love Amber Nectar, but I won't get much use out of Beauty's Touch, as I don't wear pink blush as often.  Both have a gorgeous, illuminating glow, and I like that they don't have glitter in them like the baked blush.

Milani Illuminating Face Powder in Amber Nectar & Beauty's Touch
I can't wait to buy the Milani Illuminating Face Powder in 02 Hermosa Rose.  It look like it has more rose and bronze tones to it, so I can't wait to add it to my collection.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure on CLEARANCE at Walgreens!

A month or so ago, I bought two Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polishes at Walgreens.  I want to say they were on sale 2/$10, but I can't remember for sure.  I think they are great!  They dry really fast, and I can definitely get away with only one coat of nail polish.  The best part about this nail polish is that it hasn't dyed my toe nails, even though I left a dark brown/red color on them for weeks (I repainted a few times though)!

Today I went to Walgreen and found that the entire Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure collection was on clearance!

They were $1.89 each at one Walgreens near me and $1.99 at another store.  That's 75% off!  I picked up some colors that I was interested in, and then went to another store to buy some fun colors so I can start playing around with nail art.

Here are the colors I initially picked up.
Wine Not, Commander in Chic, Peachy Keen, Gray by Gray, Red Zin
And a few more...
Pedal to the Metal, Bittersweet, Gilty Pleasure, Frutti Petutie

Sephora Favorites "In The Glow" is now available online!

If you saw my post about the Sephora Favorites "In The Glow" Blush, Bronzer & Illuminizer Sampler, then you will be really excited to know that it is now IN STOCK on Sephora's website!
I am LOVING this set.  It's so much fun to try high-end products that I wouldn't normally buy individually.

Happy shopping!

Sephora Favorites "In The Glow" Blush, Bronzer & Illuminizer Sampler

Today, I am very excited to show you a new Sephora Favorite set that I purchased yesterday.  This is the Sephora Favorite "In The Glow" Blush, Bronzer & Luminizer Sampler.  It is available in some stores, and it looks like it will be in stock online in the next few weeks.  It retails for $45 for 9 deluxe samples.
In case I haven't mentioned it before, I love blush.  It's my weakness, so I had to buy this set.  It's a great way to try out high-end products without paying the price for a full-size product.  Plus, the small packaging really is adorable.
This sampler includes 3 blushes, 3 bronzers and 3 highlighters.
Let's take a look at the blush.

Tarte Natural Cheek Stain in Flush - 0.17 oz - It looks really dark and scary, but the swatch shows that it is definitely wearable.  I think it looks almost like a gel, and it smells like gummy bears.  I can't wait to try this.
Stila Convertible Color in Peony - 0.07 oz - I love cream blush.  The color is beautiful, and it's very smooth.  I can't wait to compare this to my NYX cream blushes.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Spendor - 0.11oz - I love Tarte blush, and I love these smaller sized Tarte blushes.  If you haven't seen it yet, you should check out my post on the Tarte Fantastic Foursome 4 Piece Set that is also available at Sephora right now.  This blush does have glitter, but the color is really pretty.
Here are swatches of the three blushes.
Tarte Natural Cheek Stain in Flush, Stila Convertible Color in Peony, Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Spendor
Here are the three bronzers.

NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna - 0.08 oz - This is probably one of the most well-known bronzers.  I have never owned it before, and I think it may be too dark for me during the winter.  It does have shimmer in it, and it has a mirror.
Too Faced Chocolate Matte Bronzing Powder - 0.08 oz - This has been on my wish list for a long time.  If I had stopped to smell this bronzer in the store, I would have bought it a long time ago.  It smells like hot chocolate and it's AMAZING.  Maybe a bit dark for my pale skin, but I love the smell.
Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc in Golden Mosaic - 0.14 oz - This is really nice packaging for a sample size.  This is a bronzer, but it would also make a pretty highlight on someone with darker skin.  I was also told that this works great as eyeshadow.
 And the swatches...
NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder, Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc in Golden Mosaic
Last but not least, here are the highlighters.

Lorac Perfectly Lit Oil-Free Lumanizing Powder in Spotlight - 0.106 oz - This is soft and GORGEOUS.  I can't wait to compare this to my Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter from theBalm.
bareMinerals All Over Face Color in Pure Radiance - 0.02oz - I had this before when I wore bareMinerals foundation.  This has a lot of fine glitter in it.  I prefer pressed powders, but this is a nice summer highlighter.
Benefit High Beam - 0.13 oz - I am surprised I haven't owned this, because it seems like this comes in every kit that Benefit or Sephora sells.  This is supposed to be comparable to the Boots No. 7 High Lights Illuminating Lotion
Here are the swatches.
Lorac Perfectly Lit Oil-Free Luminizing Powder in Spotlight, bareMinerals All Over Face Color in Pure Radiance, Benefit High Beam
Overall, I'm very happy with the set, and I can't wait to try all of the products!
